Spreading the Love

Christmas is a seaon filled with cheer, but it never fails, that I feel the blues missing my family and wishing I could afford to give them the gifts that would truely light up their eyes and show how much they mean to me. With the economy being the way it is and me not having much success on my shopping outings and only two more weeks to go. I realize my original idea of printing out digi scrapbook pages that I've made, is the most cost effective and still very thoughtful gift that I can give. So out with the BahHumBug blues and in with the the spirit of humble yet thoughtful gifts. As my mother (in-law) Amy Carranza says, "It's not the thing. It's the thought."
Here's one of my first gift pages, called "Filled with Cheer" and it goes with the lyric challenge I'm hosting this month too!  Can you see my father in law in this picture? Hubby & I are trying not to laugh because of him! For all those who participate in my challenge, they'll recieve this quickpage:
Another great gift idea, is to give the gift that helps others.
In October, for Filipino American History Month, Mabuhay Project got several designers together to create Crop Dreams.  So far, Crop Dreams has been downloaded 13 times by creative team members and a few who've actually purchased it.   After PayPal fees we will be donating proceeds to Opportunity House.  Opportunity House Opens Doors to expand opportunities for children and families who would otherwise be denied health care, education, livelihood, and psycho-social support by developing and delivering resources and standards of excellence to affiliates and partner agencies throughout the world.

My wish this christmas is for more people to support Opportunity House via a $9 purchase of Crop Dreams before 2008 closes. Crossing my fingers and asking for your support.

This Christmas in My House

The K-Joi Studios designers have created another beautiful
collaboration now in the shop for only $5 this month!

We took inspiration from how we celebrate the holidays in our own way. I incorporated capiz christmas ornaments and my hubby Ron of ZaZoGraphics.com made a really cute Cactus Christmas scene. Here is the preview to my new collaboration contribution.

Here is a little 1/2 page I did while in Yuma for Thanksgiving weekend.

Also want to congratulate Frumpje for winning the *Faces* Nov Lyric Challenge. Your prize info. has been PM'd to you.

Thank you all for sharing your heartfelt memories and pages with us.
For December our song is "This Christmas" by Donny Hathaway. It's been covered by various artists, but his version is still a beloved tune. You can find his song on Amazon.

Stayin' Dry In Style & PARTY ON!

Isn't my goddaughter the sweetest little diva you ever did see?! I think so! I am fortunate that my friend Ninette let's me "borrow" her lil' girly for my digi/hybrid scrapbooking. I love how she was able to capture the water sprinklers so clearly and to have caught that perfect pose & smile. She's become an excellent photographer. I did tweek the photo a tad bit in PSCS2, just increased the contrast and decreased the brightness.

Title: Stayin' Dry In Style
Modified Lyrics: "I Will Survive - As long as I stay under my umbrella - I know I'll stay Dry!"
Digital background paper and epoxy "diva" word art - by me - for the K-Joi Birthday Collab Kit. WoooHooo! and Bummer Summer news

I recently won the Impressions of Laugter Kit for entering my Kengkoy Kids page into the Scrapbook Dimensions Hybrid Challenge! Thank you Becky Troxel, Scrapbook Graphics, and everyone who supported me! You Rock! Here's the page I did with it and for the Lyric Challenge, of course! I just loved this photo taken by my goddaughter's uncle Lawrence. I cropped it and used a photo editing techinique I learned from TaylorMade. I also used a flourish and clipped ribbon from my Gazebo kit. :)

Lyrics: Scootin' in the summer/Happy as can be/Little miss mia livin' life fondly/It´s a summer time affair in the atmosphere/ Gotta love her/ inspires with the clothes she wears/She's gonna burn off them tires /and draw down gear /Some a shine up /a wax up /not a sign of smear /Mia' be rolling /in her pinkscooter /so the whole world beware! -Lyrics adapted from Shaggy's In The Summertime -Photo by Mia's uncle Lawrence

My boohoo summer news is not so bad after all. Ever heard of PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome? Well, apparently I have it. It basically means It'll take me longer to get pregnant, because I don't have a monthly ovulation. I'll spare you all the gory details, just click the PCOS link here for more info, if you want to know more about it > PCOS But, I've resolved to not let it get the best of me. Of course, I had my 10 min. of tears on the phone with Ron while sitting in the car outside the ob/gyn's office. Talking to him comforted me, knowing we'll get through this together. He & I are once again LA Fitness members (apparently a good diet and excercise can help get my ovaries back into shape!...not just my bod. Well, wouldn't it be great to know what it feels like to NOT feel my thighs touching! Yes i said that! LOL!) Ron & I did our first ever cycle class last night! We proudly wobbled out an hour later. So, for the next month I'll be putting in more excercise time vs. design time. But, I think with pratice I can certainly manage it all. In fact, I made the WoooHooo! page while waiting for a friend to pick me up - to go for a 30 min tread mill run. Next Tuesday Ron & I are going to join the Hip-Hop class...LOL! That should be a sight to see! Well, I'll check in of course with my progress and maybe even squeeze in a new page here & there.
Wish me luck.

"Kengkoy"

= Funny.

That's right, - It's ridiculously hot here in AZ. We've had Excessive Heat Warnings for the past week. Which has really smothered my creativity. And that's no laughing matter for someone whose living comes straight from creative juices.

Today, after coming home from an ultrasound appointment...(No, I'm not preggers yet...They just wanted to check if all my goods are good)...anyways, Today, I shamelessly cranked the AC down to 80 F today - just so I could somewhat comfortably be creative. And it worked. I came up with another Hybrid Page and this one's dedicated to my brother Gary's three goofy kids, which makes me one lucky auntie.

These pictures were taken a couple years back, but, I journaled about how I enjoyed seeing them earlier this year, where my SIL took them on a road trip from VA down to Florida. It was loads of fun, tiring, but so worth it. They made me so happy seeing my Brother, SIL and kids together. It's not easy being a military family and they are doing something right, because the kids are such good kids...goofy...and really sweet. Gosh! I miss them.

I was inspired to do this page for AidaVille's June Mid-Month Challenge at CocoaDaisy.com. Which asked for three components: 1. "Fussy Cutting", 2. use a pattern paper or cardstock with the edges cut at a curve. And 3rd, add texture in the form of Stickles glitter, pearl glue or white pen.

This Hybrid page consists of digital elements I created for Posh Picnic, traditional elements from Cocoa Daisy's Gazebo kit and a couple misc. papers from my very old stash. I'm so glad I got to put them to use finally. I also will post this as examples for the Hybrid Challenge at Cocoa Daisy and the Lyric Challenge at Kjostudios.

Here are some close-up shots:
