Divas, Sisters, CAKE + Pie

On September 7, 1949, a DIVA was born - none other than the phenomenal Gloria Gaynor, who's breakthrough song "I Will Survive" was an instant "anthem of female emancipation" and remains so the world over. This is the song that will pump a bold streak of karaoke bravery in even the most timid of closet singers. It has been revived numerous times in diverse musical genres, even by Gloria herself. My favorite renditions of her song range from 1940's-style close harmony vocal music, a rock novelty song, and alternative rock.

Although the song tells the story of a woman getting over a breakup, I dedicate the spirit of this song to those who have faced and are facing natural disasters; to Kara and her team, our site members - new & originals and to all the Designer Search contestants - now working on their round 4 entries - who have been pushing through the growing pains that each weeks' challenge has brought them. Given the struggles K-joi has and is overcoming with such a big growth in membership of scrap happy sister's from all over...exceeding bandwidth was bound to happen. It's only befitting, that as we celebrate K-joi Studios 1st of many birthdays that we take inspiration and cathartic release this month from one diva to another, of such heart pounding powerful lyrics!

Upload your layouts inspired by & using excerpts of your choice from the song *I Will Survive* to the K-joi Gallery and leave a link to your LO, in the Lyric Challenge forum, by Sunday Sept. 28th, 2007  Thursday, October 30th. We will pick two winners because we missed September. This month's winners will be picked randomly and will walk away with a $5 trip to the K-joi prize vault. Winners will be announced  Tue. Sept. 30th Friday, October 31st.

The paper and epoxy "diva" word art are from "divapack" my lil' contribution to the September K-joi Designer Diva collaboration kit. If you participate* in the challenge you will receive the "diva defined" word art, in both clean and grunge versions. I applied this word art as an "overlay" on top of the papers. ;)

Here's the lil' preview for my contribution to the K-Joi 1 yr. anniversary collaboration kit. I have not seen the other Designer Divas contributions yet, due to the site situation...but that's alright by me. I like surprises!
